The VME Bus Interface is used as an optional connector for compatibility with the GE Fanuc 90/70 Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). The board can function as either a VME Bus master or slave. When operating as a VME Bus slave it will do so with an 8K dual-ported SRAM interface. All VME Bus accesses will be controlled in a configurable static random access memory (SRAM) based field programmable array (FGPA) device.
The DS200DSPCH1A board has a serial communication feature that provides asynchronous communication through a duplicate channel UART (universal asynchronous receiver/transmitter). Note that the DSPC model has two pushbutton switches on the front faceplate, the SW1 switch is used for a hard reset of the DSPC model, while the SW2 is used as a serial boot switch for the DSPC. When needing to use the reset pushbutton switches a pen/pencil will need to be used to press the switch.
